Hello. I have been having stutter in the drug of a game CSGO. I have followed every guide that is avalible and nothing has helped. Now i put a meter on the computer that mesures WATT usage in real time and on the benchmark in CSGO it says i use between 480 and 640 watts. If the meter is 100% accurat or not i dont know but is my PSU enough for my specs?

Motherboard: gigabyte z370p d3

CPU: I7-9700k Not overclocked

GPU: Nvidia RTX 2060

Ram: 16gb XPG 3600 with some stupid rgb.

Fans: 4 120mm fans including cpu fan

HDD: 1 tb 5400 rpm

HDD: 256gb M.2

PSU: Evga 500W 80 plus.

Psu calc sites i checked said that this should be more than enough.

while your psu isn't of great, quality, 500w should indeed be enough. what watt-meter are you using?

i don't think stuttering would be cause by a psu. can you monitor cpu and gpu temperature and utilisations during gaming? you can do this with msi afterburner overlay

PSU calculators overestimate by a lot. 500 watts is enough, however

this is a rather low end power supply, not suited for use with a high end system like yours. I seriously recommend an upgrade.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

That doesn't make any sense, even if the PSU has terrible efficiency, at 640W from the wall it means the efficiency is less than 50%, at 480W the efficiency is closer to 70% which is reasonable if you're using your GPU and CPU fully but CSGO barely utilizes your CPU, I'd say the meter is very inaccurate.

It is not enough at all.

And al this psu calculating sites are totally wrong.

For this set up you need at least 650W

Nah 500W is more than enough for that system, even with an overclock.

9700k ~ 200 watts (barring extreme OC)

2060 ~ 200 watts (at the very most)

where is that magical 250 extra watts coming from?

So for you it's only the CPU&GPU?

does a hard drive, SSD, motherboard, and ram consume anywhere near 100 watts, let alone 250? how about the fans?

You are talking about overkill PSU when yourself have a  EVGA G2 650W !!

EDIT: when as you are calculating 500w should be enough for you...

I got it on sale, nothing wrong with that.

Otherwise, I'd have more likely opted for a TX550M.

After a quick view on your profile, you are the King of the spirit of antithesis :D

yeah I honestly don't recommend anybody buys the hardware I have in my PC. The graphics card is too expensive, the CPU is just a binned 8700K, the RGB ram is of course extra, I have the cheapo 212 evo cooling my overclock, and the motherboard is not even sold anymore, but it was super expensive when it was on the market.

so yeah, just do the opposite of what I did for my system

I know. But power supply is something that i did not think about at all just took something that was in store at that time. CPU temp stays below 65 C and utilisations nowhere near 100% in csgo at least

On idle the meter says 130-140 watts. So it must be Valve stealing my power and reselling ;)
