Graphics card changes fan speed

Crunken

just noticed it today, fan goes from like 40% to 35% fan speed (not the exact number) you can hear and see if spin up, then go back to normal and then over and over again. it's only when i use MSI afterburner with the custom curve, but even the default curve does it. it only happens at <40% fan speed from what i can tell. Any idea how to fix it?

The fan speed doesn't actually go up in the program either

Normally if you run Afterburner and set a fan curve you should be fine.

Works for me...

Yeah it's been working for me too, it just now started doing it. Reinstalled the program but still the same thing, and my fan curve is pretty simple image.png.0dc6163ba1a570a883593ac136deb4b3.png

So basically your fans ramp up and down every few seconds? Have you checked for anything that would stop them from spinning freely (cables, etc.), or tried cleaning them?

Why don't you set a fan speed to zero until 45~50c

Yeah exactly. Cleaned my entire pc a few days ago so no dust from what i can see nor any cables in the way. Happens on all three fans at only under 40% fan speed in afterburner.

I changed the fan curve a bit and seems to fine now? i'm very confused with what's happening lol

don't know rly, always used to have it like that, can't hear the fans at 30% and i just think that it's better to cool the gpu a little than nothing at all

Restarted the program now after "fixing it" and it's back, but i just reinstalled the software with the latest version as well, not sure what's causing it ?

When the GPU is at idle the temps are very low without the fan spinning.

I set mine to spin after 50c, right now it is at 32c no fan spinning.

Just re-seated and cleaned the graphics card, made sure there wasn't any cables but still the same issue

That's really weird. When did this start happening?

Changed some loud intake fans on my case a couple of days ago, might've not heard it before but from what i can tell it started today i think, but after googling around a bit it seems a lot of people are having the same issue with Gigabyte RTX cards

Then I'd suggest RMAing it. If you can change it for a different model though, that'd be ideal.
