Directv DECA powered by USB

Hello everyone,

I bought these adapters a while ago https://www.amazon.com/PACK-Broadband-Ethernet-Generation-Supplies/dp/B01AYMAV1Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1547824395&sr=8-2&keywords=directv%2Bmoca&th=1.

Offcourse I didn't read the comments properly and failed to notice they apparently need a device with active USB ports to power it, a random usb charger does not work.

The power adapters can be ordered separately but those are 110V so those don't work in Europe. So my question is, what are some small and cheap devices with usb ports that send some form of data as well e.g. tv's, consoles but way smaller.

EDIT: my ISP's router does not have a usb port, only network ports.

Using a Raspberry Pi comes to mind. Or something similar.

Good option but kind of expensive for my goal. Sadly i can't seem to find any pi zero's in stock near me. The pi zero w for 10 euro's should work with usb otg cables (which i've got). So far that's the cheapest option. Ideally I'm lookig for something even cheaper as the adapters itself were 15 euro.

Would just an active usb cable or usb hub connected to a usb charger work?

I have no experience with these DECA devices. I don't know what they consider an active connection. It's possible wall chargers that uses Fast Charging may work. They have to be able to detect what's connected to them over the data pins. If the DECA adapter sees that it might think it's an active cable.

 

It's honestly a crap-shoot idea but if you have one lying around nothing to lose by trying.

Wow. I knew DECA adpaters were kinda crap didnt know they were this kinda crap. Im not sure how your ISP delivers your internet. But keep in mind DECA adatpers can NOT be used on the same wiring that is used for cable/ internet service. Other than that, I also read the comments on the Amazon page. To be clear, these devices are marked for Direct TV, which is company that offers Satilite TV service and is now owned by AT&T. So there wont most likely be power adaters for Europe. As far as the active cables are concerned, it has to be connected to a device, such as a game console, computer, router, raspberry pi, etc. Thats the only way your going to get them to work.

They are a shitty version of Moca that will work with Satilite TV. Basically they use the lower bands like Cable TV do, as Satilite TV uses the upper bands that Moca normally would. They are only made up to 100 Mbps.

When I was Googling DECA I was seeing some results for MOCA so as far as the technology goes I figured it was some sort of equivalent.

Isn’t there a way to convert EU voltage to US voltage so you can use the standard power adapters?
