I want to upgrade my graphics card but im unsure on what to get, it's between the GTX 780ti EVGA superclock and the R9 290x ASUS direct CUII ( well anything with good cooling ) i know that the 780ti is better and faster then the 290x but its the things like mantle and true audio. One of the main games i play at the moment is BF4 and some time in the future star citizen and they both support mantle. But then on the Nvidia side of things you have G sync, shadow play and physx, which is cool and all but to get the monitor for G sync would cost a bomb and the other stuff not that worried about.

I want to play current and future games Ultra graphics and over 60 FPS and i gaming at 1080p

If anyone could help that would be great

Hard to say. Mantle is a thing, but it's only in 2 games. Though, if those are the two games you play the most, I'd probably go that route.

I'm in the same boat, but luckily I don't need a computer until StarCitizen is out, so I'll just wait and see what performance numbers show.

Do you need to upgrade now? Might be worth waiting to see how many games adopt Mantle.

There's no point getting the 290x over the cheaper 290 and the 780 Ti is a bad value. I'd suggest getting a 780 or 290 instead.

R9 290 or 780. The 780 is looking pretty good since the mine craze but if you can get a cheap 290 then you are set my friend.

Well choosing between the 2 i would go with the 780ti. No one really knows if mantle will even really be adopted by many games as it is a extra step that some companies might not want to take. Currently the 780ti is the most powerful single gpu and the 290x runs pretty hot. It really comes down to do you want more power for all games or risk it and hope more games adopt mantle. I believe I heard that amd would be allowing other companies to use mantle but I'm not to sure. Right now its all a waiting game and also the gtx titan black is rumored to be coming out soon so that is something to think about.

Honestly with a 7850, I would try to stick it out at least until Maxwell cards are out, either to buy one or take advantage of lower 700 series prices.
