So I am planning the build below for my partner to replace her laptop.  I am pretty happy with the choices I have made for the most part but I would just like to see if people think I have missed anything obvious or where there might be room for improvement without raising the price.  Its main purpose will be gaming, though on occasion may be called upon for other tasks depending on her mood.

One last consideration is that a white theme is something that she is quite keen on so at the moment I am leaning towards replacing the mobo with this one, unless someone can point out a flaw with it: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/3wKcCJ/msi-b450m-mortar-titanium-micro-atx-am4-motherboard-b450m-mortar-titanium

I know the RAM is black, but the difference in price is pretty big to get the white. If you go with black/white build it should look OK I think. Also  better SSD being NVME at almost the same price as the 860 you had.... and better PSU.

The RAM should be fine thanks, I just went with the G.Skill because I had heard it plays really well with Ryzen.  Do you think the increased PSU wattage is necessary?  I thought the one I had selected would give a fair bit of headroom for the build.

@boggy77 nice find with the Intel SSD, will definitely have to consider it at the lower price.

For an extra £10 I would go with the Gigabyte Gaming OC.

Red dragon and gaming OC are pretty much similar in terms of cooling.

Actually, looking again the model you had chosen is perfectly fine, it's in the same tier A bracket on the PSU tier list, so should be of decent enough quality.

I would go fully modular personally, but that's a personal preference as I don't like non/semi-modular cables on PSUs. If you're doing a build where you won't see the cabling and/or the cabling is hidden behind the back then it shouldn't matter.

Glad I helped with the RAM choice though, I love the Corsair RGB RAM modules, think it gives a nice accompaniment to most builds.

What is special about the Gigabyte UK RMA process?

It is UK returns based rather than having to send the card back to Europe/Asia etc. So it should be a quicker turnaround. I know Overclockers used to deal with Powercolor returns in the past, but not sure if it is still the case. It would still need to be shipped to the RMA centre though. Also if you are on Overclockers then the Gigabyte rep on there is helpful i.e They can look into the RMA for you etc if you are having any issues.

If you are fine with going with Powercolor then you could save a bit more with the Dual version.

I do prefer fully modular personally, it is just a bit of a large price jump in my opinion for the little extra simplicity.

However the wise one looking over my shoulder has declared that she wants it to look as clean as possible and therefore wants fully modular.  So I guess I will be going with what you suggested unless there is a similar quality one for less :D

I see, thanks for the info, I'll keep that in mind when it comes to purchasing.
