That depends on the game and your preferences for resolution and so on. You can expect reduced fps to some degree generally but usually it does quite well.

I7 3770... that's usually 3.5ghz to 3.9ghz, but you do use OC, I assume?

Yes, with air cooler i got it to 4.6, i don't want to go to high to kill off my cpu faster

Depends on type of game and what monitor you are playing on.

My kids have a 3770K with a RX580 and that does easily 1080p/60hz in all games on high but Im not sure if it could do 1440p/60hz

Edit... I have OCed their CPU to 4,4ghz all core.

CPU: i9 9900K   Cooler: NH-D15   RAM: Kingston Fury 4 x 8GB 3600MHz CL17   Mobo: ASUS ROG Strix Z390-F   GPU: ASUS 3080 TUF   Case: In Win D-Frame   PSU: Corsair HX850i   Storage: 250GB Samsung 970 EVO NVMe (OS), 500GB Samsung 970 EVO NVMe (Games), 2TB Crucial BX500 SSD (Storage)   Monitor: Samsung Odyssey Neo G9.

My non-k is at <4.5ghz on air, only +0.05v increase in voltages so it does stay quite cool.

Higher resolutions are more demanding to the gpu but 1080p should work quite well anyways, with both cards mentioned. But, having a 144hz display isn't very useful here I guess, you'd like to reach or exceed 144fps as well?

From my experience the 3770K is still decent (especially with a medium level OC).

I believe a 3770K + 1070ti could easily do +100fps in a lot of games at 1080p.

You may struggle to get +100fps in the most modern games so that is to be expected with a 8yo CPU and a 3yo GPU.

Also 144hrz will improve refresh rate while running at 1080p

It works ?

It performs as I expected it would so I don't really have much to say about it but it is pretty great.

My old monitor was a 27" 1080p/60hz PLS monitor so it was a huge improvement while gaming.

I could never go back to 60hz while gaming.

I still use my old monitor as a secondary screen for Spotify, Youtube while im gaming ?

I think you did the right choice to go for a 1080p/144hz instead of 1440p/60hz

Thanks ! I did a little bit of researching it yesterday. Should get longer life out of card, which i might give to my older son when i can do another build or go with a gaming laptop.

Almost any modern title in the past couple years would be too much for that cpu and that card. Even at 3k.

Main RIg Corsair Air 540, I7 9900k, ASUS ROG Maximus XI Hero, G.Skill Ripjaws 3600 32GB, 3090FE, EVGA 1000G5, Acer Nitro XZ3 2560 x 1440@240hz

This is a somewhat unnecessary and wrong remark. Imho it doesn't add anything substantial to the thread, far from.

Really, my current setup is that cpu and a gtx 670 and i run metro exodus on medium settings at 1080p . You really think a gtx 1070 ti and my cpu overclocked won't handle it

Depends on what you mean by handle.
If all cores of the cpu are maxed and the game is a little laggy and get less frames, are you ok with that?
