Are you fully zeroing out the drive or just deleting partitions?  I zeroed a 6TB drive Seagate Ironwolf recently and took about 13 hours.

That depends the clean command is about instantaneous. If you run format fs=<FS> you'll be waiting several plus hours. If you run format fs=<FS> quick it should be a couple of minutes if that.
