LOW GPU CPU USAGE (in some games)

i have a gtx 1060 6 gb 32 gb ram i7 7700 3.8 ghz cpu and in some games that i play such as csgo rust my usages are not fully utilized for the best performance for example in rust if i try lowest settings the gpu usage will be very low and i get between 45 80 fps and if i try highest settings my usage will be higher and still geting same amount of fps if i max out the settings than the usage will be 99 but i would be getting 50 60 fps wich is not the best i am using a laptop and i have tried alot of stuff like driver updates reinstalling windows 10 no fps cap or vsync this problem is a big deal for me becouse i cannot play the games i love and i dont believe theres bottlleneck

Some games don't have enough active threads on average, requiring more single core performance at that point. Also lowering graphical quality will only get you so far if the GPU is more than capable because the CPU still has to tell the GPU what to do. At some point the CPU becomes too busy to send enough stuff for the GPU to do

You can't play games at 50-60 fps with max settings?

So it’s not a 1060 then.  It’s whatever Nvidia was calling a 1060 when you bought your machine.

one of the annoying differences between laptop GPUs and desktop GPUs is that they’re frequently not even the same architecture.  One is just “named after” the other when they do the mobile version.do you have the exact name of the GPU? It will likely be something like “1060m” or something.  There’s a site called notebook check that takes careful note of what a given mobile gpu actually is.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.
