So i'm building a new pc and I want to install a Noctua DH-15 as my CPU cooling solution.

I already made sure my ram is small enough to fit under the second fan but i'm wondering if i need to think about a way to support the cpu cooler as it is really heavy and I don't want to damage my motherboard.

Any tips?

Use the backplate that comes with it, it spreads the load out across four points of contact and braces it.

Air coolers do not normally need anything else as long as you don’t pull or push on it.

For shipping i wouldnt recommend doing it at all honestly. If its not properly packed outside and inside stuff can break so easily, Or fall out. But cooler stabillity is stronger then you'd think. Maybe you can contact the delivery people and make sure it gets handled with care.

Is that enough to support UPS transportation (the place i'm ordering parts from has a service to build it for me for 100$) but i'm a bit on the fence when i saw the company they use for shipping.

CPU cooler will be fine. Noctua has supreme mounting brackets and once its installed, and board is tight with all screws, it would mean board will brake before cooler rips the socket out. I've had my case dropped from 10cm height, and fallen to its side during transport. No issues.

Remove cooler and gpu if you ship it. Period. You dont want things to snap off your motherboard

That kinda defeats the purpose of paying for assembly. If I was very sure of myself installing it myself i wouldn't pay for installation.

I would indeed remove the CPU cooler + GPU if I was shipping a PC.

You can also apply a protective (and easily removable) foam on the inside of your PC to support the components so they don't flex and possibly break.

CPU: i9 9900K   Cooler: NH-D15   RAM: Kingston Fury 4 x 8GB 3600MHz CL17   Mobo: ASUS ROG Strix Z390-F   GPU: ASUS 3080 TUF   Case: Be Quiet! 500DX   PSU: Corsair HX850i   Storage: 250GB Samsung 970 EVO NVMe (OS), 500GB Samsung 970 EVO NVMe (Games), 2TB Crucial BX500 SSD (Storage)   Monitor: Samsung Odyssey Neo G9.

Unless you fill the case with an expanding foam, clothing, or something similar, you'll need to at least remove the graphics card when shipping.
