I believe you can take an education in programming and game design. Look it up :)

You could start with something like this...

But as others have suggested if you really want to make games well, design and coding is important...

PROFILEYEAH

What do people even put in these things?

I've started with Programming. I'm learning HTML right now, to make some web pages and stuff. Once I'm familiar with it, I'm jumping to C or C++. I'm also learning some editing and rendering and stuff. I'm also wanting to learn Graphic design, and creating music (FL 11). These all stuff helps in making games (Not flash :D).  I use Codecademy for learning Programming. Well, it ain't too easy for me as I hate math (The most Important in programming). Hope you love math, calculus.

Learn to program (Start off with Python and then progress to something like C++/Java)

I would recommend this for Python: https://groklearning.com/

Excellent online courses.

After that, try your hand at Game Maker, so you know how a basic game is created.

The get into a SDK like Unity, CryEngine, or Unreal.

This should be spread out over the course of at least a year and a half.

If you have the school marks to do so, just don't bother with this and instead get a games programming degree at uni or something.

Many people will hate on me for saying this but here's my suggestion, spend 1 week on Game Maker to get a better understanding of how games work, keep in mind that the games you'll be creating in this won't be your final released game unless you believe that it's ready to be released (which I won't recommend) . After this maybe spend around 1 month learning the basics of vb.net and keep in mind that this is to get a understanding of how to program and not how to make games, just to learn the basic principles of programming and stuff so create a simple app such as a calculator or something like that. Hopefully once you believe that you've got a good enough understanding of how to program then get into c# programming with xna. In this you'll start creating a more official game, I'd recommend buying this book for learning the basics and knowing how to use XNA in the right way otherwise just google how to do some stuff you want to include in the game.

Also just a side note I think that this post would fit under the Programming & Software Design section considering that it's quiet related to it.
