Monitor has a dark patch

Hello! My monitor recently got a dark patch at the bottom of the screen (see attached pic). It's not always there when turning on the screen, but always appears after some time. Is this a hardware issue? I should also note it only happens on my second monitor. Thanks for the help!

I think its a hardwhere defect. Just try switching cables or ports in gpu just to get those things out of the list of things to try.

Yeah, hardware issue. If it's a new monitor, replace it under warranty. If it's an old one, you can maybe see if there's anything obviously wrong inside, but I would just replace the whole thing.

luckily, it's an old one. I'll take a look inside, but replacing sounds like a solid plan. Thanks for the help everyone!

Yeah it might be something super obvious like a capacitor, but do be careful poking stuff around in there
