Small improvement. 970 ~= 570/1060 3gb, and the 580 is maybe 10% better than those.

Keep it or save for a larger upgrade. You won't notice that much.

Some cases if you get the 8gb 580 it will help, but those cases are rare and fixable with texture resolution adjustment.

Its not worth it. I would suggest saving up and get a better CPU before thinking about a GPU upgrade.

The Ryzen 7 2700x Goes on sale sometime for under 200 bucks "I got mine for 170" and that should be good enough for you.

Used Ryzen 5 1600 $80

Used Vega 56 $200

Best solution used, with expectations for 1080p/60 high moving forward

New Ryzen 5 3600 $190

New RX 5700 $200

Best solution new, with expectations for 1440p/60 high moving forward

Imo

EVGA has some good deals on B-stock midweek sales.

I saw 1660tis for $219 last week, and rtx 2060 (non super) for $279.

More options if you want to consider team green. Used 1070s apparently can be had as low as $100 but I've never seen one.

That's actually really compelling.

If you have a poorly ventilated case, it's perfect as well.
