Hello everyone,

I bought a new 2tb ssd and I want to install a fresh copy of windows 10 (my old ssd have windows7)

The only thing that bothers me tho is that I just found out there are several options that I was unaware you can choose from (legacy bios or uefi, mbr or gpt) and I want to be extra sure to choose the best option for my system.

I also have two HDDs that I mainly use for data storage and I want them to be plug n' play with the new system

Basically the only thing I will change to my system is a 500GB Samsung 850Evo (win7) with a 2TB Samsung 860Evo (win10). No dual boot.

Do I really have to bother about bios uefi etc or should I just say "nah man, forget about it"?

Keep legacy boot enabled if you need to install windows 10 or etc. on the pc.

Why is that? Even windows 7 supports UEFI installs.

Go for UEFI boot which requires GPT partitioning, boots faster and has secure boot

They should be plug n play, you wouldn't have to change anything

It depends on your system, if you have an old one that doesn't support UEFI then go for legacy bios, when you use the tool that Microsoft provides to put Windows 10 on a USB it does both Legacy and UEFI, it just depends if you have CSM enabled (which enables Legacy Boot on UEFI systems) then you might see both when you try to boot from the USB.

How do I choose gtp partitioning? I've installed win10 a couple of times already but I don't recall ever choosing between mbr and gpt

If I install win10 in uefi mode do I need to change other stuff except the bios option to use uefi? Can I just put back those HDD to sata plugs and that's it?
