Yea, I know it won't overclock much but that's fine, I'll overclock the gpu anyway

try to bump that to a ryzen 5 3600 and 1660 super, a lot of performance unlocked for just a bit more
motherboard may not be compatible out of box, pretty sure msi slaps a MAX on their updated motherboards.
for $20 more you can get 16gb, 8gb is not enough today, especially with windows applications just sucking up to 4gb if you leave them on.
power supply may leave to upgrade headaches down the line, $10 more and you should even find a 650w if they're still on sale.

The ryzen 5 3600 is a bit over my budget, is the ryzen 5 2600 fine? or should I just stick with the ryzen 3 3200g, and aight I upgraded the psu to the 650w one, 1660 super would also be over the budget since it'll be 100 CAD$ more than the 1660, and for the ram if I have extra money I'll get it, but for now I'll stick with the 8GB (I edited the post with the new changes), also I'm 20CAD$ over the budget but that's fine

the 2600x is a better option compared to the 3200g seeing that it has more cores and threads, and your motherboard issue goes away.
the 1660 super should be the same price as a 1660, maybe you're confusing it with the 1660 ti?

Nope it's 339 CAD$ in canada which is like 60 bucks more. and for the mobo, does the 2600 work on it too cuz the 2600x is 30 bucks more

I'm not sure how much it is, but you're probably right, it's the same, but anyways it's out of stock so I can't see the price. and for the mobo, does the 2600 work on it too cuz the 2600x is 30 bucks more

2600 and 2600x are the same cpu except one of them is binned for faster clock speeds. Overclocking is pretty bad on ryzen, especially so on 1st and 2nd gen. so I'd recommend the X cpu since it'll actually be fast out of the box and guarantee some headroom. Also pc part picker shows it for only $10 cad more.

Well this is the benefit of building your own pc, you can leave yourself open to all options until the deed needs to be done. Good luck on your build, may the prices fall further.(there's a good chance they will with a possible ryzen 4000 announcement at ces)

By using a cheaper worse motherboard and slower ram

 Not sure it's worth it.

it's not slower ram? it's 16gb clocked at 3000MHz and the msi b450 and asrock b450 are similiar, it's just that the asrock is on sale atm.
