I think I might need a new router. Don't know what I should get.

Liger0

So, as the title says, I'm thinking I might need to get a new router. My current one is a Linksys E2500 N600 that I got 5 years ago when I was finally able to get off of dial-up. Lately, I've been having issues with intermittently losing internet connection and I have to do a hard reset on it (unplug and plug back in) and within a minute or two I'll get a connection back. This can happen as often as 5 or 6 times a day on a bad day. What I'd like to know is what kind of router I should get to meet my current, and maybe future, needs. As far as internet connected devices, I have my computer (obviously), an Xbox one, Nintendo Switch (via ethernet cable), a tablet, phone and 3DS (via wifi).

Um, I'll have to get back to you on that first one. As for budget, let's say $150 USD after taxes (6% sales tax in Kentucky)

I seriously can't say enough good things about google wifi. I use it in my place, I got it for my parents, my parents business, and have recommended it to many friends. Simply put, it just works, it always just works. I have never had a single issue or random glitch with any of them.

A single puck likely would cover ~2000 square feet pretty well depending on walls and where in the space the puck goes, but their backhaul is seriously impressive so you can daisy chain them and they work as AP's but without the stupid bandwidth and latency issues a normal wireless extender would. They really are set and forget, and they perform well in my experience.

I would need something that has more ethernet ports than that as, as I mentioned, I have my computer and two game consoles connected via ethernet.

Get this and a 8 port switch?

I mean, I really would recommend buying a good quality unit... Google wifi fits that bill. You can always buy the older version (the version I actually have, I have not used the new version I linked), they are pretty cheap now.

Amazon.com seems to be down, but I believe they are 99 bucks for a single puck. There is nothing better for 100 bucks IMO. For the security alone they are worth it. They actually get updates when required, and they auto install them. Unlike linksys or whatever else which may or may not get security updates, and you likely wouldn't know to install them anyways.

Its not even loading correctly for me at the moment, but this is the old version:
