There is no volume control, so my dad can't put them in to hear tb without getting blasted out.

If its used with latest Android device, phones volume control is linked with BT volume. So you can lower volume from phone. It should also remember last volume that was set for BT. If not, there are apps that can set default BT volume when any device is connected. For earbuds side volume control, RTFM aka read the manual.
