Hey guys, Ive been looking through the used market recently and found one interesting deal, Ive managed to get some more info from the guy which worried me a bit tho,

Its 1080ti which was running at:

Most performance BIOS options

for 8 months

at 80 to 85 degrees celsius

Has 4 months left on the insurance

Fans running at 100% all the time

So it wasnt underclocked which ive heard was the standard, but 8 months isnt that long, do you think gpu could lose a big chunk of its longevity running those temps 24/7? Im interested in you guys opinions, especially people who dealt with mining cards already.

I would run from that deal. Card was running at max load with fan raving at 100% trying to cool GPU at 85c. It can run for 5-6 months and then fail outside warranty range. And then what?

I would only recommend buying a mining card if they ran undervolted in a cool place with fans at 50-70% speed.

I’d get it if it isn’t an msi card. Doesbt matter if it was 2 years or 2 days.

Gonna perform the same.

Doubt the bios was flashed, isn’t an amd card that needs it.

When i buy used I apply new tim anyway.

Youre gonna do much worst to it gaming for the time you’ll have it.

Hardware longevity is impossible to measure. So is hardware "wear".

If it's at the right price go for it. I'd personally strip it down and replace the thermal paste and have a clean. Just in case it being in a rack full of other hot cards had an effect on its cooling efficiency now.

Id buy it instantly if it werent for those temps, I was wondering if someone saw some kind of thread where a person ran a gpu on full load and how long did it take to kill the gpu, im really sceptical towards it but the price is so low i couldnt stop thinking about it, to put it in the perspective its around 120% of ryzen 3600 price, im from EU.

So it ran at its rated temps? Something that most cards do when people let it run on stock profiles in poor cases.

If you’re that worried go get a new card. And see how long it lasts.

I was also wondering about that warranty time, also first time i asked about mining temps he said its 68c which after further questioning turned out to be temp under load which seems rather low aswell, so a bit sketchy already, its MSI GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X 11G GDDR5x ill take a look into that warranty.

Again, why are you concerned about warranty time if you want it used this late?

Given the card, I wouldn’t get it. Had several lose a fan.
