is going 450W for a 200W system overkill?

dreamboi.exe

I still cant decide on how much power i need for my system. I calculated it online and found it needed 200W power but i found a certified yet cheap power supply that provides 450W of power. Is tht a bit too much?

Its perfect you want some overhead so your in its peak efficiency range for that psu. I try to have a couple hundred extra watts on all my builds.

Yes, it's overkill, but good luck getting a decent PSU that have a wattage much lower than 400-450W. The more important part is getting an actually decent PSU, rather than a random 450W 80+ certified PSU

I did a quick search and only found a SFX that was 300W, but it was 3 times the cost of a ATX 400-450W PSU.
