Grab another 660 Ti for sli or at the very least a 780 or 290 if you're going single gpu.

Do you think that would max games out for a year? I also heard there is screen tearing with SLI.

Always go with one powerful card before 2 mediocre cards in sli.

If you want better performance for your Shield get something 770-780

Will a 780 maxbout most games? How about the Asus 760 ti mars edition? ( the two cards in one card)

Yes, you should be able to max out most games for a while.

Screen tearing can occur. If you want to avoid that issue, go with a single gpu.

The 760x2 (not ti), isn't much better than just adding a second 660 ti for sli. Look up 780 benchmarks for whatever games you intend to play. It should max out most games for a while.

The 780 is a plenty powerful card. There's only been one game I've found it struggles with on max settings and that's sleeping dogs (every game max AA too) at 1080p. Could be a coding issue I don't know. But It still runs at 40fps maxed out. Every other game I've thrown at it has been 100+ fps besides metro last light which was 70 fps average. For the money it's a great card and with the acx cooler it stays below 75c at 60% fan speed when being taxed.

That's something that's subjective. It will last for a while running games at max settings, though as time passes system requirements get higher and you would have to either upgrade or lower your settings to compensate. You can't ever buy anything that will last forever, the components change too frequently. You just have to buy the best you can at the time, then upgrade later. If you waited for the ultimate graphics card that would last a decade without having to replace. Unless you lowered your settings to minimum at some point, you would be waiting forever. There is no "best", there's only the best you can afford. :)

i would go with the 780. You are good for most games at 1440p on a 780.

Case: Phanteks Evolve X with ITX mount  cpu: Ryzen 3900X 4.35ghz all cores Motherboard: MSI X570 Unify gpu: EVGA 1070 SC  psu: Phanteks revolt x 1200W Memory: 64GB Kingston Hyper X oc'd to 3600mhz ssd: Sabrent Rocket 4.0 1TB ITX System CPU: 4670k  Motherboard: some cheap asus h87 Ram: 16gb corsair vengeance 1600mhz

It would last more than a few years if you are running 1080p since my 7950 is still great in running games at 1080p.
