Should I buy mining card that is 5 mouths old?

Hi I show some sell ZOTAC NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB Mini GDDR5 VR Ready Graphics Card for £100 on Facebook. He told me its mining for 5 mouths but I want to know if i buy this from him how long will this card last for? Is this a good buy for the price? Need advice................

Didn't know you could measure anything's age by mouths.

More on-topic, ask the seller about how the card was maintained while under mining conditions. Was it massively overclocked? Was it undervolted to potentially help with longevity and power usage?

All of this is something that we are unable to answer.

We don't know how hard and/or how well the card was maintained. If it was used for mining once a week for an hour, it's functionally going to be like-new. If it was shoved in a closet under some clothes running 24/7 for five months straight, it's likely not in a super fantastic state. Does it have a modded bios? If so, can it be flashed back?

In addition to that, no electronics that I know of have a "I will last exactly this long: ____" timer on them. You could purchase this thing and have it dead on arrival, or you could have it run perfectly fine for 20+ years.

As for asking price, it's a fairly average asking price based upon several listings on /r/hardwareswap

Check the sellers ratings, if its a reputable seller who took care of the card, then maybe go for it.

I would. Though you must keep in mind anything used is always a gamble, and that's part of the reason you're potentially saving a lot of money.

You won't luck out every time. There will be times you get something that doesn't work, or dies quicker than expected.

That's part of buying used items. You just have to make sure the money saved outweighs any downside.

Prolly gets tired of those questions. People hear the term and think they know how it works. Had people keep asking me if I mined on 7 series kepler cards. 

I wouldn't buy a used msi card that's 10 series anyway.
