Hi all, I've been planing to build my first PC for a couple of weeks now. I've done some research on the components, but I'm pretty new to PC building, specs and all of that, so I'm not sure if the components I've chosen will perform as good as possible.

This build will be mostly used for gaming/streaming (hopefully Halo Infinite and other FPSs), some 3D modeling (ZBrush) and illustration (Photoshop) and would like to have room for some overclocking.

So my questions are:

  • Which of these components would you change?
  • Is the power supply an overkill?
  • Do you have any recommendations, do's and don'ts?

Thanks.

Why not go AMD 3900x or 3950x

Amd cpu are better value for multitasking right now, if you were only gaming I’d say 9900k is best choice.

the amd r9 is also gonna be vastly superior for your rendering.

3950X costs more, can be hard to find, when found is often overpriced, and is overkill for the large majority of people. The 3900X is a good 9900K alternative around the same price, it can sometimes be hard to find too tho AFAIK.

A 9900K/9900KS is better for gaming (especially once OCed and tweaked properly), and still damn good in multicore stuff. The 3900X is almost as good in games, and extremely good in multicore stuff, the Ryzens typically do a little better than Intel chips at the same core counts in that, and the 3900X has a whole 4c/8t more than the 9900K. Really depends on personal preference and what the bulk of your workload is, both are excellent CPUs at around the same price point.

I haven't really explored AMD options. I just looked for both CPUs suggested by @Windoors on my country's biggest distributer's website and 3900x is out of stock and 3950x is not even listed. So getting them might be an issue. But will see if they become available. Thank you.

Hey man, thanks a lot, I appreciate the time you put into this. I searched for the components you changed with my local distributor but seems like some of them are out of stock or not listed. I should have stated the limitations of my country's distributor. Will try to find them somewhere else.

Mexico, so yeah, not all products ship here or some launches are delayed. These are the 3 largest stores (with best reputation): https://www.cyberpuerta.mx/ https://ddtech.mx/ https://www.orbitalstore.mx/

Post what you want to go for, maybe we have suggestions

In terms of what I want to use it for: Mostly gaming/streaming (AAA FPSs, hopefully Halo Infinite), 3D Modeling (ZBrush), Illustration (Photoshop). So a 1440p monitor with good color accuracy and brightness is important.

In terms of looks: Not really interested in RGB but I really like the look of the NZXT Kraken X62 Rev 2 98, and I want to maintain a white/black color scheme. The thing is that I already bought the NZXT H510i case and can't return it (it's the only component I bought so far).

Other than the case I'm pretty open for suggestions.

These are the stores where I can get my components: https://www.cyberpuerta.mx/ https://ddtech.mx/ https://www.orbitalstore.mx/ and amazon.com.mx
