System upgrade

I have been planning to upgrade my pc this christmas and wanted to ask for your opinion/advice about it.
My current specs are:

Intel Core i5 2320 @ 3.00GHz

14Gb of ram

ASUSTeK Computer INC. CG8350 (LGA1155)

4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti

 

Im planning to upgrade to :

Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz

MSI X570-A PRO ATX AM4 Motherboard

and i wanted to keep my gpu

You'll probably need a RAM upgrade as well.

Yeah, you will need new RAM and you might need a new PSU.

 

 

Also, X570 is overkill, but that specific motherboard is trash tbh. Get a good (or at least decent) mid-range board.

Yeah a good b450 board like the MSI tomohawk/mortar max will be better value. 

 

Also OP do you have an SSD? If not make sure you get one.

Asus CG8350 is the graphics-card, not the mainboard. I assume you can't change the multiplier for partial overclock? I got an old i5 2400 (non K) on p8p67 and it's still a beast... If it's for gaming I'd go with a better graphics card, leaving the cpu etc untouched.

If you get a MSI B450 gaming plus MAX the difference in price between the motherboards should be enough to buy a SSD. The MAX series of MSI are out-of-the-box compatible with Ryzen 3X00.
