$1500 1440p build

BionicMike

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xhpmCL

Just a 1440p build that I plan on doing, ITX to save space. If anyone has any ideas to reduce the price further but keep performance that'd be nice. Will probably plan to stream a bit as well.

If there's a better monitor for same/cheaper price let me know but this was the best one i could find.

might as well buy the 3600X for a few pesos more, getting better silicone, maybe a better fan if its like the 2600 and 2600X

your mobo

MSI B450I GAMING PLUS AC Mini ITX AM4 Motherboard

6 phase vrm using 60A power stages.

3900X is ok depends on airflow, heat sink looks anemic. Componentry is good. SLI is good.

not bad not bad

hmmmmmmmmmm

get the Tomahawk MAX

your ram should really be speeds of 3400+ like the Viper Steel 2x8GB

Will it make a drastic difference in gaming performance though? I don't plan to overclock at all and 3600 just seems more like bang for the buck in this situation.

yeah i guess, you can take it or leave it but with $15 price difference, the X sounds cooler and looks cooler when the specifications are listed.

dont matter i guess

https://www.techspot.com/article/1880-ryzen-3600x-vs-3600/

Quote

The Ryzen 5 3600 comes clocked at 3.6 GHz for the base and 4.2 GHz for the boost, the 3600X runs 200 MHz faster at 3.8 GHz and 4.4 GHz, so a 6% base clock increase and a 5% boost clock increase.

Quote

The only other change in specification is the TDP, the R5 3600 is a 65 watt part and the 3600X a 95 watt part. As such the 3600 gets the 65w Wraith Stealth and the 3600X the 95w Wraith Spire.

Quote

The 3600X gets you a better cooler out of the box

might be good just for the cooler! but also the added speed cpu

Quote

Misleading TDP ratings: The only thing that makes the R5 3600 a 65 watt TDP part, is the 65 watt cooler, while the 3600X is a 95 watt TDP part because it comes with a 95 watt cooler. The CPUs themselves are otherwise identical.

You're not saving much space with that case, it's quite bulky.

If you went mATX you could save a fair bit of money and still hold about the same amount of volume

that M mobo has the light bios!

M mobo

Bios flashback, 64gb in 2dimm slots, matx, 3600 3700x

Downside is the light bios, not full bios, still good.

What if I went with this case instead? It's around the same size (in terms of liters), and it's cheaper. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/dM8H99/silverstone-case-sstsg13b

microATX is a bit of a dealbreaker since I want it to be really small...ideally the case isn't any larger than 20-25 Litres. I don't mind paying a bit of a premium for smaller space unless the savings is enough for me to upgrade on graphics/cpu.

I don't care about if the X is cooler or if the specs are cooler, i'm not that type of person :P. While the 3600X has a better cooler it does have more TDP.... unless there's a huge difference in temperature under load (which I don't think there is) then I don't think there is a reason to go for it.

I don't really understand what your issue is with the motherboard though, what do you mean by light bios?

That's fair. I have an SG13- it's a great little case. Pretty easy to build in.

For the motherboard- were you looking at using the wifi card that comes with it? If you are, maybe look at another board or look into replacing the one it ships with. It's fairly weak and doesn't hold a consistent connection more than 20 feet away from the router.

He wants ITX so the Tomahawk MAX isn't an option. The MSI B450I Gaming Plus AC is actually the best B450 board in terms of VRM if I remember correctly.
