Idling at around 4 gigs of ram?

chi_chi_

So I'm just typing in opera, just one tab (this one) and I open up task manager, I'm at 3.8 gb of ram. I have 2x8gb sticks and I'm wondering if that's just a normal amount for a Ryzen processor, idk any other reason.

System:

P.S, how many background processes should be open?

browsers uses a bunch. even if you close it out, it will not reallocate that ram until something asks for it.

its fine. i am at around the same at relative idle with just background processes.

plus if using windows 10 it could also use a fair bit.. times mine uses just 3 to 4 gigs on idle of boot up. right now im not using much of anything and im sitting at 6 gigs idle but cause i have 16gig more ram have though more windows think its fine to use i find. when i had 32gig on my old system it was like 8gig or 10 gig on idle with just firefox and steam and discord and maybe some simple wall paper engine wallpapers but those pause when im doing stuff.

Perfectly fine memory is there for a reason, to be used to make your pc faster and to allow you to multitask.

At idle and no open programs with just tray programs running I idle around 16-19GB used.

It all depends what your doing with your system.
