TrustedInstaller is owner of everything

I noticed that I TrustedInstaller is the owner of my windows and program files folders. Is this the way it should be? 

I was unable to make a simple edit to the hosts file a couple days ago without removing inheritance and giving myself full control of the file.

Would anything get messed up if I made my user account or the administrator's group the owner?

 

Trusted install owns: C:\, C:\Windows, C:\Program Files, and others

System owns C:\users, C:\users\chris

 

My user account is part of the administrator's group

C:\ (my account has read/execute and list) (admin group has full control)

C:\windows (my account has read/execute and list)(admin group has inherited special permissions)

This is normal.

It was changed to prevent people from just willy nilly editing system critical files. Trustedinstaller operates outside system administrator, and to change ownership many times a registry edit is required. Just another way microsoft is making us less and less capable of editing the software running on our own damn hardware. Every update we have less and less control over what our own computers are doing.

That's normal, mostly to stop idiots from destroying files they really shouldnt and render the OS install unusable. You could still add administrators to the "owners" list of the file and do whatever you want to it.
