Hi guys,

I want to upgrade my PC. It was Initialy built as a audio pc so no graphics card included.

Now I would like to turn it into a gaming pc for 1080p Gaming (Games: Anno, Halo, COD, etc.) for now with a Samsung C27F396FHU with FreeSync (will upgrade later).

Current built:

My Budget is around 400-450€ in Germany.

I was looking into a RTX 2060 Super, 2070 Super or 5700 XT.

Question is now which Custom Card.

I looked into the

Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER GAMING OC 3X 8G

Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 5700 XT

ZOTAC GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER AMP Extreme

ASUS GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER Dual Evo OC

Question is whether for some my PSU is enough and which to pick.

I would highly appreciate a recommendation.

Best Andreas

So you only upgrading you gpu? and your psu is good enough, G# supernova is know to have some problems but its not worth upgrading the psu.

So 2060 super is slower than 5700 xt and 2070 super little bit faster. So do not get 2060 super. Choose from 5700 xt high end models (strix 5700 xt, power color red dragon oc, asrock taichi ultimate) or 2070 super lower end model (msi armor, msi ventus, asus dual, asrock phantom x)

Keep in mind lower end model run hotter, while the higher end usually do not.

2070s > 5700xt > 2060s

depends on what prices you see. in general, the best frames/$ goes to the 5700xt.  also the nitro+ is a very good model

Yes it will be only a upgrade.

I read that minimum for 5700xt and 2070 Super regarding PSU is 650W. I was pretty unsure my psu. Especially regarding the problems with the supernova.

If I need to change my psu, it would blow up my budget.

450w psu can handle 2080ti so do not worry. Make sure your psu has enough pci e cables tho

550 would be enough, but yes, the G3 isn't great. This could be an option. If you overclock your 5700, you can get close to the 5700xt stock performance. At this point you'll be limited by your cpu anyway, especially at 1080p

Hi,

I just found a good offer from nvdia for the Asus 2070 Super Dual Evo.

It includes an SSD and COD (which I wanted to buy anyway) for 529€, if I exclude the SSD and the Game it comes down to around 410€. Which gives me some space for a new psu. I would now go for the beQuiet Straight Power 650W.

What do you think about this combination?

Thank you!

Not the best rtx 2070 super card. Not that good cooling, but its enough.

What ssd?

But isn't the straight power a 80+ Gold one anyway? In the PSU tier list it's good rated.

SSD would be SANDISK Ultra® 3D Solid State Drive.

you did not say that it was 80+ gold.

pretty basic ssd. I would go for the 5700 XT, buy the game yourself, for under 500 euros.

With strix 5700 xt, you get some money back and you can get borderlands 3

Hello,

The best for your money will be the Nitro+ since the 5700Xt is better than the 2060S. It's also one of the best 5700XT out there, the other are the Red Devil (PowerColor) and the Gaming X (MSI). Cheaper alternative are the Pulse (Sapphire) and Gaming OC (Gigabyte).

The best will be the 2070S but compared to the 5700XT and price difference it's not always worth it unless you need CUDA cores. Though the 2070S you selected is meh at best.

straight power 11 is better honestly, not that the rm is bad, but it's just better. produced under FSP with a (not so surprise with BQ) custom platform made for them

the last bronze straight power was the e7, which hasn't been sold in years, and going off 80+ ratings has been bashed many, many times

Thank you for clearification, bought now at least the power supply. Regarding the 5700 XT, how bad are the driver issues in the moment?

Most of them gone. Still there can be stuttering at 1080p when playing veru low graphic games.

  • 3 months later...

Hi guys,

I'm now 3 months in and I'm super happy with my decision. The nitro+ runs super silent and the first issues with the drivers are completly gone.

Currently I'm still playing on a 1080p 60hz Monitor. But there the gpu is even in COD:MW, Borderlands or over AAA Titile only 50% in use. So it should have enough power for the next years.

Best

Andreas
