Ethernet Adaptor Not Working

So I have an Ethernet adaptor, and it shows up as an "Unidentified Network". How can I fix this?

Assuming you are on widows 10

 

Click start and open setting then go to Network and Internet

 

The list on the left select Ethernet then on the right you should see Network and under it Connected click that. 

 

This will bring up the option to specify public or private.

It says Not Connected aswell
