New monitor goes black when trying to open a game....

Cheeky Bugger

I just got a new monitor,AOC 24G2U,it works well in desktop, but when i try to launch a game,it goes into the game window, but the problem is that screen goes completely black and you can only hear the audio, tabbing out works fine, could it be maybe because i've upgraded from a 1650x1050 monitor,so it is launching games at 1650x1050,resolution that this monitor does not suport?

Have you run windows update and upgraded to the latest graphics drivers? Could be a faulty HDMI/DisplayPort cable too.

Make sure that your new monitor is configured as your primary display (1) in windows

I'm updating the drivers right now,but i've found the config file of the game and it says that it launching at this 1680x1050 resolution which is clearly very wrong, change it to the native Full HD and will give it a shot once the drivers finish with installing, thanks for the help

You can press ALT + Enter for the game to go into windowed mode, though there are some games where that doesn't work

That's strange, have you tried a different game? this is software related rather than hardware

Could be a faulty HDMI cable or a faulty HDMI port in the monitor

The PS5 should have the higher quality cable as it's even a HDMI 2.1 cable.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.
