Steam crashes on startup

Steam crashes shortly after logon on my main gaming laptop. Can anyone help?

Is there not a way to check the integrity of Steam?  I am sure there is.  Do that.  Make sure Steam is up to date.  So far though I am not finding a way to check the integrity of the folder/files.  I know you can check games like it says here ...

A re-install? It won't delete your games, or a system re-start
