Noctua's vs Scythe GT's

Lays

I made this video awhile back, and figured I'd share it with everyone that hasn't seen it yet.

Awhile back after seeing ALL the praise, and all the hype about noctua, I decided to get 4 nf-f12's, 3 nf-s12a, and 1 nf-a14.  I always knew they were decently quiet, and thought it was as good as I'd get quietness wise.

While I was buying parts for my custom loop, I decided to try scythe gentle typhoon's 1450rpm model.  Man was I amazed.

If you're planning on getting noctua's, weigh your other options first. They aren't as quiet as people make them out to be.

I'm not trying to say they're better performers than noctua, because they're not. (about 3 degrees warmer, but SILENCE+ Aesthetics is what I care about most. I'm willing to sacrifice a tiny bit warmer temps for silence.)

I also know this video isn't studio grade quality with DB readers + voltage readouts, but honestly you don't need that to tell the clear difference in noise levels.

GT's have apparently stopped being made, @airdeano I believe mentioned it to me, but they're working on a new type of them I believe.

Hopefully they'll be just as good, if not better than these.

There's also tons of other options, I hear NB-e loops are great too.

NoiseBlocker E-Loops are amazing, ask Marto

only issue I have with them is that they aren't easy to set up in push pull and they are EXPENSIVE

Noctua makes their fans to be unique, which results in them making hideous fans, but Scythe makes better fans, and they look good too!

There are 10 types of people in this world, those who understand binary, and those who don't.

For me, not having PWM is a deal breaker. Using two Noctua NF-F12 PWMs on my Cooler Master Glacer 240L right now and I have no regrets.

Noctua makes their fans and Nidec makes the GT/AP fans for Scythe USA.

and Nidec will no longer manufacture the AP line for Scythe USA.

so all but the 800rpm GT/AP is End of Life.
