Is there any difference between these same GPU different Card

IndioBravo

Hey everyone,

I am currently looking to buy a RX 5700 Xt to upgrade my GPU. But I find different cards with different prices.

I came here to ask you if there is any difference between these two, given the wide $ diference range:

SAPPHIRE PULSE Radeon RX 5700 XT: $409.99

https://www.newegg.com/sapphire-radeon-rx-5700-xt-100416p8gl/p/N82E16814202349

ASRock Radeon RX 5700 XT DirectX 12 RX 5700 XT CHALLENGER: $369.99

https://www.newegg.com/asrock-radeon-rx-5700-xt-rx-5700-xt-challenger-d-8g-oc/p/N82E16814930020

Thanks!

You should probably look at reviews of these cards. Differences can be in cooling, noise, quality of VRMs, stock-overclock, ... then you can decide whether their differences are worth a premium to you. I know the Sapphire one has received a lot of praise in reviews, haven't seen one for the ASRock, so far.

Remember to either quote or @mention others, so they are notified of your reply

Asrock one cools worse, just as the price suggests. Could still look for the Red Dragon or Gigabyte 3 fan card

Thanks!

Can’t speak to the pulse but I can speak to the challenger. I just bought tried and returned one. (Couldn’t get it to work with my monitor)

the challenger is a basic 5700xt.  It’s also ugly.  Black with yellow and gold stripes.  I don’t have a case window so I could care less though.  No overclock, no overclockability due to the cooler can’t take it, and it’s not super quiet.  Not super loud either.  It IS an actual 2 slot card rather than the 2.5 slot a lot of marketeers are referring to as “2 slot” now.  It’s not a very long card.  Maybe 4 inches shorter than my gigabyte wind force 970 that I was forced to put back in my machine.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

is the pulse worth it?

I'm about to purchase a Sapphire Radeon RX 5700 XT PULSE here in the NL

It is a beast graphics card.

But you are going to have to invest some time to customize your settings and get to know how the Radeon Software and drivers work.

Its raw performance is excelent for the price.

Watch the reviews.  There are really only three variables with cards of the same design: MHz (higher is usually better) decibel number (lower is arguably better), and price.  The first two don’t vary all that terribly much.  They can be quite expensive though.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

I’d go for the cheaper one personally as you can oc in Msi afterburner :)

Not entirely true. Cheaper cards usually have worse cooling, which means they will thermal throttle quicker and there is much less possibility to even oc them.
I’m not saying you have to buy the most expensive but to your research first, also instead of buying cheapest just go slightly higher, like sometimes the difference is $20-30 for much better card

Even the worst 5700xt (well maybe not the TUF) will perform within margin of error of the other cards, and all can be tweaked to acceptable (well maybe not the TUF) thermals.

What you're paying for is noise and looks, and potentially more thermal headroom for overclocking, which the 5700XT isn't very will known for anyway and there's no guarantee.

I chose the cheapest one (XFX RAWII) and I clock between 1800-2050mhz almost all the time and get decent temperatures with an undervolt and custom fan curve.

It's noisy, but at $369, I didn't feel the other cards were worth the extra $60-100..... For that price I'd just get a 2070 Super. That's my opinion anyway.
