Motherboard Choice

United_Chi

I'm planning on a build still and I'm questioning motherboard choice.

Budget still ~$1750. Planning on 2080 super.

I was planning on aorus elite since it has the capability of supporting everything I want and it's currently $150.

I was toying with idea of getting aorus ultra currently priced $199 which is what elite was normally. Looking around I saw the Asus Pro WS x570. Which is $250. Which is what the ultra normally is.

The Pro WS is at the S-Tier for motherboards.

Is it really worth the money to spend if the elite will run everything I need? Or is there benefit to having an S-tier? The elite is currently D-tier. Ultra is currently A-tier. I haven't ever heard of the WS Pro until now.

Elite https://pcpartpicker.com/product/nHxbt6/gigabyte-x570-aorus-elite-atx-am4-motherboard-x570-aorus-elite

Double Edit: Here is what i'm thinking. (PS. Do not need storage).

The X570 Elite is a great motherboard, why is it at the "D-tier"? It'll handle a 3900X.

The Elite has 12 SIC634 powerstages, and at a 300A load they are 90.5% efficent.

The Aorus Ultra has 12x IR3553s, and at a 300A load they are 92% efficent.

The Elite is very similar to the Aorus Pro, and is definitely not a bad motherboard.

The X570 elite is tier B

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

I have no idea what S-tier and D-tier means.

Aorus Elite is a very solid motherboard. Its only downsides are

* single pci-e x16 slot (some higher end ones have option to split in 2 x8),

* no usb type-c on the IO shield

* only 1 gbps ethernet (it's Intel so good, but it's not 2.5g or 10g)

* if you care about onboard audio, only ALC1200 instead of ALC1220-VB

* only 2 m.2 connectors (standard, but higher end boards have 3)

x570 Pro adds a usb type C and a pci-e x8 slot. Same power stages as Ultra

x570 Ultra basically is a Pro plus wireless as far as I can see ( you can get Elite Wifi if you don't need 2nd pci-e x8 slot)

Asus Pro WS x570... don't see the excitement over this, it's only pluses are the 3 pci-e x8 slots and two gigabit network cards (meh) ...no wireless, no 2.5g .. nothing special.

It's for a gaming pc, cpu will probably be either 3900x or 3700x. Consensus is elite is probably perfect..

Similar question. 3700x is probably more than enough?

Yeah, for gaming, the 3700 in an elite board is plenty
