I would go for a lower end probably some kind of AMD chip and a higher end GPU.

Well then on my HD7770 i push almost full max every game at 1280x1024 which is simmilar to your res. I would go for a R9 270 non X and some cheaper CPU like FX6300.

I just lokked at your current CPU, it's decent enough to carry you 1 more year or so.

If i were you i'd just grab the 270 with no additional stuff and trololo to everything full max out goodness!

I know the CPU is good and the combo is too expensive, i get it. Go and get the GPU ONLY , won't that fit in your budget?

It might bottleneck. Pretty much, when you hit a bottleneck, in a game, the CPU will be pinned to the wall, but the GPU won't be (like CPU @ 100%, GPU @ 60%).

I don't believe that a dual core @ 3GHZ with 4gigz of ram will bottleneck that card that heavily. Still , you will max all the stuff on that res at probably + 40 fps.

With your current CPU, the Titan would be worthless. It would get to a certain point where the CPU can't keep up with the GPU, and you'd have to live with it. Let me find a video on YouTube about it real quick.

EDIT: I think this is the one.

yep, the bigger the gap between a cpu and the gpu, the bigger the bottleneck. Your PC will always run as fast as your slower component for a certain task. And in most games the gpu plays a bigger role, the cpu is fine, not great but fine. It's no single core 2ghz cpu y know.
