The WD Blue 3D is the obvious choice here, both SSD are comparable to begin with... Samsung has a tendency to overprice their units "because we're the best" much like Intel does with their CPU even when not applicable.

 

You won't be losing anything going with the significantly cheaper model.

Hey there guys, I'm looking to buy another SSD for my PC which I mainly game and program on. I already have an 860 evo for my OS.

 

For Amazon's Black friday sale here in Canada, the WD Blue 2TB is down to $240 pre tax and the Samsung 860 EVO 2TB is down to $300, both all time low prices.

 

Is the $60 difference worth it to get the Samsung EVO, or is the WD the better choice here?

WD SN500, Samsung 860 Evo, Crucial MX500 and Adata SU800 are the best SATA drives for performance atm, WD Blue actually compares to the older products like the 850 Evo and MX300, though performance isnt all that different.

Yep, TBW for the 860 EVO is 2400TB while the WD Blue is 600TBW, speed is about the same though. From what I've read, it is advisable to leave some space unallocated via Samsung Magician (I understand it helps with maintaining speed of the SSD and its longevity.

could do that by actively not filling up the SSD yourself, or not partition all of it if you're not so good at controlling yourself
