New PC after 9 years

yohanio

Last time a bought a PC was around 9 years ago. I want to build a new one, and since it's black friday soon, I thought now would be the best time.

My budget is around 2000-2200$. I live in Canada.

I pretty much use my PC for gaming. I play pretty much any game so I would like a good PC so I can max everything. WoW, FF14, Division 2, and any new releases.

No peripherals and no OS needed.

This is what I came up with.

I don't really know anything about motherboards/power supply/case/memory (pretty much everything I guess) so I just put those as placeholder.

Thanks.

CPU isn't really necessary, a Ryzen 5 3600 will perform just as well if you're going to upgrade to 1440p. You don't even really gain that much at 1080p.

If you're strictly gaming, you don't need to spend that much on a CPU.

I'd use the money saved to buy a 2TB SSD (some should go on sale for Black Friday) and a better case.

CPU: Ryzen 9 5900 Cooler: EVGA CLC280 Motherboard: Gigabyte B550i Pro AX RAM: Kingston Hyper X 32GB 3200mhz

1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz but I'll probably buy a better monitor eventually.

Well you only need an R5 3600 for pure gaming

don't need 32GBs of RAM for gaming, also harder to run it at higher speeds.

Just grab a 1TB NVME drive if you want an SSD

Pulse will be just fine, go for the Sapphire Nitro if you want a top end RX 5700 XT

Get a case that actually has airflow for proper cooling

might as well get a decent gold rated unit over a bronze unit.

If you play mostly fps and esports games get a 240hz display, otherwise go for a 1440p 144hz display.

For some reason the neptwin white is really cheap

I'd like to future proof my rig as well. Would a Ryzen 9 really not be necessary 5 years down the line?

Also, for the SSD, can I have more than one of the NVME?

Current games max out at 6 cores, in 5 years it could touch more cores. Seeing you upgraded a pc once a decade, i think this is a good for you. But i'm pretty sure current games won't use more than 6 cores. Don't be surprise if half of your cores will be idle.

Yeah you can have more than 1 NVME, if the motherboard have the slots.

Ryzen 5700g @ 4.4ghz all cores | Asrock B550M Steel Legend | 3060 | 2x 16gb Micron E 2666 @ 4200mhz cl16 | 500gb WD SN750 | 12 TB HDD | Deepcool Gammax 400 w/ 2 delta 4000rpm push pull | Antec Neo Eco Zen 500w

Unless you start doing streaming or something the 6 core is plenty, there's going to be a Ryzen 6000 that's 10-20% faster by that time in the future anyways.

At most get a 3700X

Can use as many NVME drives as there are M.2 slots on a board, though if some go through the chipset hitting all of them at 100% load isn't going to do well for performance, not that it matters for gaming.

Can also just use SSD caching for a 4TB hard drive or something, like StoreMI.
