Depends on the budget and market. It's not a matchup I'd use in any occassion, but I need to know more before saying how bad it is.

i really like to play the game Arma 3 and right no my build is terrible and can hardly run it so i need a better cpu like the i7 9700k and my graphics card at the moment is a gtx 1060 3gb so i need to improve that aswell my budget is about £600 which is about $670-$700

8 core and 16 thread is better than 8 core and 8 thread when it comes to productivity beside gaming. 8 core and 16 thread 3700x will have less cpu usage than 8 core and 8 thread 9700k on gaming too. In addition, you can upgrade to 12 core 3900x in a year or two for ~$400 on the same am4 motherboard.

 

You can too on Z390 with 9900k but that is still going to be hella a lot expensive after a year.

What is your budget? For sub $200 best is ASUS X570 TUF Gaming Plus and Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite or below $180 is ASUS Prime X570-P if you don't mind less features and IO connections.
