Deioized Water

Distilled is better. Deionized is ions free so it wont corrode your metal parts nearly as fast, but distilled can prevent bringing organic matter into the loop in the first place

Is Deionized water ok to use or do i need distilled?

Deionization is more rigorous than distillation, either is absolutely fine.

I can be totally wrong but I always use RODI water (I have had saltwater reef tanks for years so I can make my own) and a pinch of pure silver kill coil I change my water 2x a year and have never had growth or clogging in my loops.

If u use deionized u might aswell use normal water.

Deionized only has ions removed. While distilled has minerals and contaminants removed aswell.

it is NOT recommend to use a silver kill coil if ur loop has nickle plating in it, like on blocks. Nickle plating and silver dont work to well together without anti corrosion additives, at that point u might aswell just use a biocidal additive instead along with the anti corrosion additive.

The safest method to avoid corrosion , biological buildup, clogging, fall out, and staining, is to use pure distilled water + biocide + corrosion inhibitor.

I havent looked into my loop since 2015 when swapped GPU and there is zero growth visible in a res. DI water + a pinch of CuSO4*5H2O ;)

Does that leave the water clear, or is it blue now?

I'd suggest adding some kind of biocide to it. The safest way is to use premixed liquids, tho you can run it with de-ionized or distilled fine for a while. Just don't be surprised when the tubes get cloudy and maybe temps rise a bit after a few months.

No. The amount needed for one loop was literally a pinch.
