Windows 8 network issues

My mother has a laptop that shipped with windows 8, but this was a while ago, a d now the laptop won't connect to the internet

Also please don't use windows 8, it had support dropped a few years ago.

Windows 8 has security support till 2023...

 

Can you give us more information on what exactly doesnt work? which step, any errors etc...

No Windows 8.1 has security updates till 2023. Normal 8 is legally dead at this point.
