Are you sure it's not just charging too slowly to combat your use?

There’s a whole lot of reasons that could be happening.  Including what @dizmo said.  

 

next on the cheapest to fix and most likely list:

what kind of connector does your phone have?

 

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Well don't all phones have this little sign ⚡   on display when charging?  I sure never had one that didn't. 

So it's either charging or it isn't... 

 

And yes,  my phone also charges very slowly over front USB of my PC,  could swear it's faster over the laptop... But I usually go the traditional route of just plugging it into the wall  :)
