JohnDoe7

The MSI B450 A-Pro(Max) should be under 100$ and is one of the best B450 motherboard.

Any B450 motherboard will do, but if you want a bit extra, X470 or X570 will be better. You can also consider A320 too if you just want a super budget build.

So, what type of features are you looking?

Do you plan to buy another CPU in the futur, like when the AM5 socket will come out you plan to get the ryzen 4600 or something else?

The MSI B450 A-Pro will get the job done, i would consider spending a little more money and get the Tomahawk or Pro Carbon, they use the same VRMs but have more features on them.

Try to avoid the MAX boards, they have their BIOS updated for Zen 2 and it's far from optimal for Zen+ CPUs, you want to stick with older BIOSes.

Main System: Ryzen 2700, Asus Crosshair VII Hero, EVGA GTX 1080ti SC, 970 EVO Plus NVMe, Crucial Ballistix 3200mhz CL14, CM H500, CM ML240L cpu cooler.

Second System: Ryzen 2400G, Gigabyte B450 DS3H, RX 580 Nitro+, Kingston A400 SSD, Team T-Force 3200mhz CL15

If it ain't overclocked it ain't good...

yes. would be nice not having to upgrade my motherboard along with the cpu. but i'm low on budget... how's asus b450m-a or non-m?

Avoid making the same mistake i made a year ago, get the extra 20$ and buy the MSI B450 Tomahawk.

I can assure you if you get the Asus B450m prime you won't be able to get a decent OC on with a 2600, and the VRMs are probably be running hot and unstable. If you don't have the money to buy a decent board, you should wait a little longer.

That's reasonable, msi b450 gonna be my first choice. But if for any reason i couldn't afford it, can prime b450 non-m be my second?

I bought an asus tuf b350 gaming motherboard cause it was the cheapest motherboard available at the time.  Worked fine for my 2600 + 1660ti allowing me to overclock to 41x@1.35v.

The Asus B50 Prime as very weak power deliviery, Top 5 worst board on B450/X470 chipset

Stick with those boards all NON-MAX versions if possible:

MSI B450-A Pro

MSI B450 Gaming Plus

MSI B450M Gaming Plus
MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC
MSI B450 Tomahawk

Main System: Ryzen 2700, Asus Crosshair VII Hero, EVGA GTX 1080ti SC, 970 EVO Plus NVMe, Crucial Ballistix 3200mhz CL14, CM H500, CM ML240L cpu cooler.
