they're only difference is a small boost in clock speed and a heck ton more heat dissipation and power consumption. 3600 is fine unless you can spend $50 more for .2Ghz increase. and as far as i know, the 1700 is good enough even for a 2080

Hey Ya'll, I've just upgraded my GPU from a 1050 Ti to an RTX 2060 and I'm worried about the possible bottlenecking on the cpu side of things.

 

My pairing is as follows:

 

RTX 2060

Ryzen 5 2600

 

I've done some research and a few sites suggest that the Ryzen 5 2600x is actually a good pairing with the 2060. Would such a minor difference between 2600 and 2600x create a bottleneck for me?

 

I ran 3D mark and my FPS during the graphics tests run from 45-50ish in time spy and firestrike. But my physics tests get trashed running around 15-20 fps.

 

My theory is that the CPU is not letting the GPU perform optimally and I was considering going for the Ryzen 5 3600x.

 

Let me know if you have any advice as to what I should do.

Im with the mentaility of "IF IM NOT SURE IF ITS ENOUGH COOLING, GO OVERKILL"

You'll be fine, especially if you're just comparing those two CPUs. The 2600 overclocks to the performance of the 2600x, so why don't you just do that?
Your rig will always have a bottleneck somewhere. It's impossible to avoid. It's not like a bottleneck bricks your system.
