Go to solution Solved by xKyric,

Even though the seller is claiming to have staff, he/she doesn't seem very professional. The one week warranty is also a bit sketchy, I'd look more into who's selling this.

If you do decide to purchase the computer, you'd want to go into the "About you PC" setting in Windows to make sure there's a 9900k. Next, open "Device manager" and then open the "Display adapters" tab. There should be text along the lines of "NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080" at that point. If you can, I'd physically open up the computer to make sure a 2080 is really inside the system. It's not uncommon for swindlers to change how software detects the name of a graphics card.

Also, welcome to the forum!

the whole thing is really confusing to me. course i dont know how things are done in your country.

Since you seem to not be comfortable with your knowledge of pc parts i would suggest not going through with the deal at them moment

i think so ... but i dont know why i can't let it go... bcus if you want to build pc with that specs in my country it will cost 2300

but this one .... give me a really hard time ....

test and pay on the same day doesnt really scream scam to me.

I cant think of any seller that would let me have something without paying for it....let alone for more then a day.

when buying from a third party seller i dont know any that would let you not pay when you get the product.

They live in same city as OP so if OP try to scam them then OP will be in jail. The seller only give OP a short amount of time for testing the rig and want OP to pay in full on same the day. This sounds like grabbing money and run tactic to me.

Part number does check out. HOWEVER, this is a very cheap blower 2080 that will run like crap. With that being said, a 9700k + 3200MHz RAM isn't bad though I am nearly certain that is not an overclockable motherboard.

I'd say check device manager for the CPU and GPU, and Task Manager for RAM speed. If you see a 9700k, RTX2080, and 16GB(?) of RAM, go for it. Anything less, run.

My chinese reading is pretty bad, sorry if I messed up RAM amount.

Lenovos Asia only products are actually pretty good looking, I can say I've seen these Lenovo Blade things here in the US. That case reminds me of the ones Alienware used in the Socket 775 days... I loved those things

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

but thats kinda how all sellers work.

Ive never heard of any seller saying "here test it out and pay us next week". The fact that hes getting time to test it out at all is pretty good.

But hes saying its a onlineshop. do they accept debit/credit cards? if so you would be able to file a dispute if it was a scam.

and yes in a perfect world scammers would go to jail...that doesnt happen most of the time though. so you cant blame either party for not wanting to get scammed.

Open device manager and click the processors and display adapters tab. Under processors you should see a whole bunch of entries labled "9700k", specifically 16 of them. And under Display Adapters you should see one RTX 2080.

Open Task Manager and click memory, under speed it should say "3200MHz"

Hardware wise, the GPU says RTX 2080 right on it. So long as you see that it should be easy.

honestly you dont need more then 1 or 2 hours of testing.

Also...thats more time then you get with just about any seller. Ive bought hundreds of used parts over the past 15 years or so and i dont know anyone that would let me test something out for hours and hours before buying it.

If you dont feel comfortable buying something when you have 1-2 hours to test it then you need to worry more about getting your experience with pcs to a higher level then finding a good deal. and i dont mean that as an insult.

edit: can you use a debit card to buy it? is your bank good with filing disputes?

Im not a scammer and theres no way in hell im just handing expensive hardware to a buyer and saying "ill come back tomorrow for the money" i cant think of a single seller who would do that.

It doesnt matter if they live in the same area. its not like you can just show up with the police and get your stuff back. What if the buyers not there? what if he got rid of it? police arent going to do a man hunt for a facebook computer deal. Theres a huge chance that if you give a stranger a $2000 pc and leave without the money you wont ever see the pc or money again.

cpuz and device manager will tell you the hardware. you can also open it up and physically look at everything.

But if im reading right you dont have a monitor and what not so im not even sure how you would go about testing it. You dont have to do the deal today right away. tell them you need to think about it and get back to them.

I dont know of any seller that would agree to letting a buyer take expensive hardware without paying for it and then come back days later. thats not how it works.

It doesnt matter what your willing to give them. its not worth the potential headache for a seller. If someone rips me off on a facebook marketplace deal the only potential way im getting compensated back is if i go to the police or go to court.

I won a small claims court filing against a scammer for $4200 back in 2014. I still dont have the money back and i doubt i will ever see it. Sure the guy went to jail but that doesnt put money back in my pocket.

When did I say you are a scammer? Are you the seller of the pc that OP wants to buy? Because I did not say you are a scammer. The seller make the OP sign paper that you did leave the pc with him and documents. It is like buying a used car and if the dealer doesn't let you take the car to your mechanic to check or rushing your mechanic to get the inspection done to see if there is any issue than you know that vehicle could be a lemon vehicle that they want to get rid fast with grabbing money and run tactic.

you misunderstood me. im not saying you called me a scammer.  What i was saying is not even legit sellers (like me hence why i said im not a scammer) are going to just hand someone a product and come back later for money.

And signing a paper means nothing. its not legally binding if you sign a paper. esp if hes not of legal age to sign a contract in the first place.

OP parents will sign the paper since OP is using his parents money or his money to buy the computer.

OP needs to get a professional to inspect the rig.
