Question about RAM

Go to solution Solved by Spakes,

RAM sticks don't need to have the same serial number on them. CAS latency, manufacturer (of both RAM stick and memory dies), line-up, amount of RAM and speed should be enough for ideal pair.

And yes, this model is fine. Your PC will use lower values of speed and higher timings of two.

Hi LTT,

I got a new computer a few months ago (Rtx 2060, 8700k and 1 Stick of 16gb Ram) And I realized that for certain games having dual channel RAM can make a considerable difference. I want to upgrade my RAM to be dual channel but I'm not sure the best way to go about it. The Stick I have installed right now is a G.Skill Ripjaws "F4-3000C16D." I was looking for an identical stick online but the only one I could find was sold out. So my question is, can I get another 16GB stick with a slightly different model and different speed (I was looking at this: https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232090), or would it be best to just get a new set all together, maybe 2x8GB sticks? If I were to go with this second option does anyone have any recommended stores/websites I can sell my current 16gb stick at?
