Can I overclock Intel core i3 3240 @3.39 ghz?

The motherboard is Joshua-H61-uATX (Joshua), in a hp pavilion 500-123w. This cpu isn't exactly slow but I'm not sure if it's possible to overclock, or if I should just get a better cpu. Any input is greatly appreciated thank you guys :). Also it just has 8gb 1600 mhz ram rn in one slot I think this board only supports 16 gb memory

I don't think so, so probably looking for a budget friendly upgrade. it's an lga 1155 socket type and not sure if it supports amd

H61 and a locked processor, no overclocking mate.

If you want upgrade advice I suggest picking up an i7 3770 and another 8gb of ram. Would be a very substantial performance increase and good for AAA titles today even from a cpu standpoint.

I'm really strapped for funds, I was thinking an i5 3470 quad core and more ram, what do u think

That works as well.

On the super cheap end look into a 3470T

its the lower wattage version, just a lower clock speed, so it won’t perform as well as the normal counterpart but a 3470t is still 4c/4t and usually 10-15$ cheaper

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. The main performance boost will just be the added cores at this price point I believe. I'm not necessarily gonna be gaming on this system alot, but I'm gonna be using it to stream console games ect. It works right now but the cpu usage gets a bit high
