Building a Rig for College to Game, Stream, Record, Trade Securities, and Do Homework on

Basically the title. My max budget is $800 USD.

 

The most demanding thing I'm going to be doing on this PC playing is Rust which is notorious for hogging RAM and requiring an SSD to run, so I need this PC to be beefy enough to play Rust and record at the same time. Other games that I play are Overwatch, World of Warcraft, Team Fortress 2, and occasionally DOTA 2 and Minecraft on servers that are pretty demanding and modpacks that are also demanding. I think this PC can handle all that but I want to be 200% sure before I buy any parts.

 

I also have another concern, I have headphones but I don't know if it would be better to use my headphones that I use every day and buy a Blue Snowball or just stick with the HyperX Cloud Cores.

looks fine, but i'd recommend getting a rx580 over the 570. Its only about $40 more but you'll benefit from the performance. If you're budget is really tight, you may want to consider a smaller ssd and maybe a seagate hdd

That board doesn't have a great VRM actually.

 

Get an NVME SSD

Just hold off on the hard drive/headset and get a 2TB SSD first, then I'd maybe get some used or open box Sibera 200s which are around $30, solid headset for the money.

 

Check ebay for an RX 480/580 8GB, maybe even a 590 if one is cheap. The RX 5500/5600 is coming soon ish too

used the saved money to start with a 1080p 144hz display you won't have to replace for some time, just double check reviews.

I would take off either the ssd, HDD, or headphones. Those are all easy things to slap on and upgrade at a later date. Use your budget to maximize your core prefomance in cpu and gpu right now.

This may seem like a strange reason to not want a 144hz monitor but I've heard from my friends that once they bought one, they couldn't watch Youtube or watch a movie without noticing how weird the frames were or something. But thanks for the tips, this new parts list seems to be much better than my old parts list.

Going to need the SSD for Rust but I'm fine with only 500 GB SSD since I barely play much games currently anyways. But regarding the CPU and GPU, I picked them because they have enough power to do what I will want to do for the foreseeable future and I don't really want to spend money on extra power that I'm never going to use if that makes sense.

Yeah the 570 is a placeholder for now, I was browsing my local Craigslist and I found a bunch of deals on 580s that were not used to mine.

It works fine on my 144hz display, if they had 2 displays hooked up with multiple refresh rates that may have caused an issue,

Or their monitors may have only worked properly at 120hz.

That should have been buy a 2TB hard drive later*

I think they meant like once they got used to playing on 144hz, 60hz Youtube videos on their phones and 24hz movies in a theater looked choppy.

not really a thing IMO. 144hz is king for gaming

 

240hz is even nicer, but not really needed.
