New CoD build

I'm building a new PC for CoD. Here's my first draft, the parts will be purchased used.

Any suggestions or alterations?

 

Current build:

7600k

z270 motherboard

GTX 980

2560x1080 monitor

 

Next build:

2600x

x470 motherboard

GTX 1080

2560x1440p 144hz monitor (maybe an UW, but we'll see)

Adding WiFi

 

Complete build idea for those curious:

Main goal is to get higher refresh rates, with a new monitor, to see what it's like.

maybe go the 3600-b450 route?

 

and compare 1080 pricing to 5700xt pricing as well

Either a 5700XT or 2070 Super, or better if you can. Both are a bit faster than a 1080, and support some newer features better than Pascal will, if you ever want to use them.

The way I build PCs, the 1080 would work out to be significantly cheaper....unless systems pop up with 5700XTs in them, but since they're so new I don't think that'll happen on the used market just yet.

I've considered a 2070, but the 1080 is easier to find in used systems. I probably wouldn't go AMD as I intend to use GSync, and AMD cards that provide decent performance are nigh impossible to find in used systems.

No need to pay the premium tax for G-sync truthfully, Freesync is great on Nvidia cards.. I have my 2080ti on a freesync panel and zero issues with stuttering and tearing.

I'd like to believe that it works like that with all monitors, unfortunately it doesn't...there's some that are just horrid when you try to use GSync with FreeSync. Though I suppose I could try and find one off of their verified list. However, none of those dip into the lower end of the framerates, most cap out around 30 on the low end. Which is probably why you don't notice it too much

not on the stuttering part no, but the screen tearing definitely. Even with my old 1070, before i had it I use to have horrible screen tearing in Black Ops 4, since getting my monitor, https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VRCLHYS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1, which btw was one of the original 12 validated by Nvidia for Gsync compatibility, ive had zero issues with tearing.

Hmmm good to know. The only problem for me, is buying used, the list really restricts me. Though, I guess really, it opens up 12 more possibilities

So they were still good even with a 1070?

Yea, had no issues with it when I had my 1070 before upgrading to a 2080ti this past summer.

Haha, looks like there's only one monitor that's in the compatible category with the spec I want, and it's very pricey. Welp.
