Minecraft: Ryzen 5 2400G vs 2600 and 3600

Hi. I'm upgrading my current build, and with everything that I've bought, I have a very tight budget. Right now, I have a Ryzen 5 2400g, and I'm debating whether to stretch my budget to buy something like a 2600, 2600x, or 3600. The main reason why I'm contemplating this is because Minecraft is so heavily dependent on the CPU, so I thought an upgrade may boost the FPS nicely. But honestly, looking at the base and boost clocks of each, I'm wondering if I'll see a large enough performance increase that's compelling enough for me to drop more money on.

 

The R5 2400G has a boost / base clock of 3.6/3.9ghz, the 2600 3.4/3.9ghz, 2600x 3.6/4.2ghz, and the 3600 3.6/4.2ghz. Minecraft (lower versions like 1.8, at least) benefits primarily from single-threaded performance, so if I move up to the 2600, will I instead be losing performance because of the lower base clock? And for the 2600x, 3600, would I see any performance gains with the boost clock?

 

I'd appreciate any input, because right now I'm getting a migraine from what parts to choose, what parts are compatible with each other, and I'm regretting my original intent to upgrade at all.

Lag right now on it mainly comes in lobbies with many player, item, and NPC entities, as well as graphics settings like render distance.

You'll definitely see a difference with a 3600 because of the IPC boost from Zen+. Clock speed isn't everything.

Do you have a dedicated GPU? The upgrades you mentioned do not have integrated graphics if that is what you are currently using.

Ah, alright. This is why I wanted to ask the forums, because I knew there would be something other than clock speed. One last thing, what about the 2600? Would I see any performance improvements then, so it would be worth the upgrade?

Yeah, I understand. I bought the 2400g because I was going to use the integrated graphics, and then I upgraded a couple months later. I have a RX 5700 now, so it's more than capable of running everything, thanks.

Yeah you'd see some improvements with the 2600 as you're moving up in core count and a little bit of clock speed since theres no Vega 8 anymore.

So sorry for the endless questioning, but would it be worth it to drop $120 on the 2600, or is it too little of an improvement that I should just save for the 3600?

I'd personally get the 3600 because of the IPC boost but the 2600 is still a solid choice for it's price and it'll do just fine for minecraft.
