Why do I suddenly start to suck at typing

Hello, I have been typing for a long time now, and I can basically get 65-80 wpm on a standard QWERTY keyboard. But my issue is that I get these moments ever maybe other week, that my typing just sucks, I lose accuracy I lose speed. I'm not sure what is happening. I know sometimes its from anxiety, but the time I was really anxious my keyboarding skills were just garbage. So I'm just wondering what is going on, because I don't want this to happen, and if you know what can I do to help myself?

Don't think about it. Touch typing is about muscle memory so by actively thinking about it you will slow yourself down. This is how world record holders for cup stacking and rubiks cube solving do it. They don't think

Can confirm. I was a competitive speedcuber over a decade ago, and 100% of your conscious attention is spent doing pattern recognition. I had no idea what my hands were doing.

 

These days, I pick up a cube a few times a year, and bumble through a solve spending most of my time...thinking.

Sometimes it happens, whether it be cold hands, away from a keyboard for a while, or just an off-day. Don't think about your speed too much because that's ironically detrimental to your typing speed.
