sata Sata

So i am trying to build a New pc by myself. And I stumbled upon this problem. I cant find anywhere to put this "thing" on the left coming from my psu, and I also dont know what the sata thing is. Its a Rog Strix B350-F Gaming motherboard, and the psu is a Corsair Cx550. It looks like it should fit there, but as you can see it is too big. Idk if i have to buy a New psu?

This is a SATA power cable.

It connects to SATA drives to give them power.

But the sata slots Are too small to fit in there?

The cable is for SATA power, the ports on the motherboard are for SATA Data

So you connect the power cable to the HDD, and then a seperate cable from HDD to motherboard.

The slots on your picture are SATA data slots on the motherboard.

They accept SATA data cables coming from a SATA drive's data slot, so the drive can send data to the motherboard.

What if im using m.2 Ssd memory?

Then ignore the SATA power connectors, since you're not using SATA 2.5" drives or a DVD/CD drive that needs SATA.

M.2 drives send both data and power through the M.2 slot they're inserted into.

Then you don't need to bother with the cable you are holding in the picture, or the slots shown in that same picture.

An M.2 SSD uses the M.2 slot on your motherboard, typically above or below your top PCIE slot (where your GPU might slot in).

 

The cable and ports you showed are for Non-M.2 SSD's, HDD's and optical drives.
