I recently got a LG 27GL850, which is both my first IPS monitor and also the first high-refresh-rate monitor. For the most part I really like it.

It has some amount of IPS glow (which I've heard is pretty much unavoidable for any IPS monitor) and luckily doesn't seem to have any back light bleed. I'm pretty sure it is IPS glow since it changes depending on the angle.

Though as this is the first IPS I've ever had I'm not sure how much IPS glow is normal on these kinds of monitors. So my question is basically how much IPS glow is normal for an IPS monitor? And is this an acceptable/unacceptable amount? I might be able to exchange it for another monitor if need be, but given the relatively low supply of these that would take a while; and I don't know if I'd even get a better panel or not.

This is how the monitor looks when dark (or how the edges would appear in a dark scene)

I know the image is not the best and is probably over-exposed due to the camera trying to take in extra light in low-light scenarios, but the only camera I have is on my phone (which is an old iPhone 5).

The monitor is already at the lowest brightness it can go.

Here's one that I managed to get a bit darker.

This is clearly better than the old monitor I was using, which was a cheap 60Hz TN monitor that I got in 2010 (Shown below).

But I actually tend to notice color differences more on the new one, probably because although the old monitor was worse, it was a more consistently worse image, so I didn't notice any particular spots that looked different.

~~SNIP~~

This monitor is known to have poor uniformity.

its up to u if u want to try the lottery again, but just know it is highly likely u wont get a unit much better.

If uniformity matters to u then a VA panel is more likely to have better uniformity. Specifically any of the top choices in the below link.
